Consulting with clients to discuss behavioral concerns and training needs
Identifying additional behavioral concerns and communicating them to clients
Developing suitable training plans for dogs and documenting their progress
Teaching dogs to obey basic commands using various training techniques that are best suited to each dog’s personality and attributes
Implementing appropriate training programs to address and resolve problem areas, including aggression, separation anxiety, hyperactivity, and biting
Ensuring that the training areas are clean and tidy after every session
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Sound knowledge of dog training techniques as well as animal behavior and body language
Proven experience working as a dog trainer
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills
Covering a regional territory that includes the Southern San Francisco Bay Area, Central California Coast and Southern Central California Valley, you will teach and apply the canine training and socialization skills needed to raise healthy, happy GDB puppies. You supervise and support a territory of puppy raising volunteers and approximately 75 dogs.
You identify, recruit, and train potential new puppy raising volunteers. Flexible, full-time position where you can work from your home, with volunteers in the field, and make your own schedule; it does involve significant travel.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in assessing dogs’ health, temperaments, and behaviors & conducting dog training and placement
2+ years of supervisory experience
Demonstrated ability to recruit volunteers and identify resources
Responsible for the development, oversight, implementation, and regular review of AAF and partners’ canine behavior programs, including evaluation, rehabilitation, training, and enrichment. Works closely with our partners, including the AAC, and the public to provide behavior support. Well-versed in a variety of common behavior issues and has experience helping people and pets using positive reinforcement training. A team player who can work collaboratively within our team and with partners and who can think outside the box and communicate effectively is a must.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of canine behavior/training experience within animal welfare, sheltering or rescue. Professionalism, clear and compassionate communication style with clients. Familiarity with current animal welfare issues. Valid driver’s license.
$70-$75K per year DOE, inclusive of a housing allowance. Housing has been secured for this position in a 3BR, 2BA house with a fenced yard that allows dogs. Two-weeks paid vacation, cell phone allowance, and travel reimbursement.
This position is a member of the Lake County Animal Shelter Leadership Team. This role performs daily life checks, manages the flow of dogs, and performs modified SAFER evaluations. They are a primary contact for volunteers and assist with onboarding new volunteers with dog handling. They teach a twice-weekly free dog training class offered to the community and assist in training new staff members focusing on dog behavior, writing dog behavior memos, dog handling, and dog adoption counseling.
Qualifications:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Requires high school diploma, GED, or vocational training with three (3) years of related experience. Requires a valid Florida driver’s license.
Pay Grade: 16N (Salary: $15.98 – $25.24 per hour) Full time employees are offered a competitive benefit package including paid holidays, annual and sick leave, retirement, health, dental and other benefits. The selected candidate will need to successfully complete a drug/alcohol test prior to appointment.

Instruct public dog training classes using rewards-based training methods. Assist the Manager of Behavior Support & Training in developing and marketing AWA’s training programs for the public. Assist in the development of the programs by exemplary customer service and problem solving skills for the client base.
Teach dog training classes to the public, adopters, volunteers, donors, school groups and other organizations.
Provide group dog training classes for 4-8 clients, including but not limited to Basic Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Good Manners
Provide onsite private dog training lessons, as needed
Proven passion and patience for training and the ability to adapt to each dog’s training needs; Must have a love for working with dogs and their owners
Combining cues, behavior, socialization and wellness into their classes
Ability to effectively convey training methods to pet owners, helping them increase their effectiveness when working with their dog(s)
Proficiency with animal handling skills
Qualifications:
CCPDT certification or equivalent preferred
1+ year of experience in teaching group classes with both small and large class sizes and variety of breeds and temperaments
Experience in using positive reinforcement – reward based training methods
Preferred Certification: CPDT-KA®, CPDT-KSA®
Salary & Benefits:
$24/hour with a 10% commission on all registrants into the trainer’s classes

Teach group dog training classes for up to 15 students in the area of basic obedience, puppy training, and any other specialty dog training.
Provide one-on-one private dog training for puppies and adults in client’s homes. This includes evaluating dogs and creating customized treatment and training plans appropriate to modifying their problem behaviors and providing them with obedience training. Communicate with clients in between sessions to answer questions that they may have during the training process. Preferred experience working with rescue and shelter dogs.
Qualifications:
Certified dog trainer.
Preferred Certification: CPDT-KA®
Salary & Benefits:
Starting at $45.00 to $55.00 per hour, tips, bonuses.

You’ll also identify, recruit, and train potential new puppy raising volunteers, as well as assist with fundraising, marketing, outreach, and public relations initiatives and events. It does involve significant travel.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in assessing dogs’ health, temperaments, and behaviors, as well as conducting dog training, behavior modification, and placement
Knowledge of canine behavior management, with the ability to assess and evaluate raisers to give them appropriate guidance
