Description

One of the most challenging cases in behavior modification is working with a client and their fearful or aggressive dog around strangers in the home. This webinar presents some of the challenges and the skills needed to successfully help clients with fearful and/or fearful-aggressive dogs become more confident and reliable when meeting strangers in their homes from the moment of taking the case history, working safely with the dog, implementing creative and practical behavior modifications plans to empower the client to make good choices for their dog as they move forward in meeting strangers in the home. Learning Objectives 1. Taking a comprehensive history of the situation 2. Understand the typical challenges of introducing fearful or fearful-aggressive dogs to visitors to the home. 3. How to identify the dog’s specific triggers when visitors are present. 4. Evaluate the most suitable and safe options for managing the dog when visitors are expected. 5. Evaluate options for introducing the dog guests from a safety and behavior modification standpoint. 6. Assess the dog’s body language and stress response when interacting with a visitor. 7. How to keep everyone safe. 8. Establish safe protocols as “blueprints” for the owner and the dog to build the dog’s confidence in meeting new people at their home.
