Description

This talk will focus on existing, validated tools shelters can use to help them tailor behavior interventions to dogs in their care (e.g. CFQ, DIAS, etc. etc.) and introduce an ASPCA-developed tool for identifying at-risk dogs and tracking intervention efficacy. We will provide examples of applying the CFQ and DIAS to shelter populations at multiple facilities working with dogs exhibiting excessive arousal. We will then provide an overview of the hQoL (holistic quality of life) tool and the Airtable interface we developed to empower external shelters to use this tool and visualize the results for their populations. Audience members will leave with a QR code to access the interface, and instructions for creating an account & implementing the hQoL at their facility to complement existing approaches for monitoring the welfare of animals in their care.
