This collaborative in-service workshop is designed specifically for Instinct's Training and Behavior Team, with a specialized focus on training medical alert behaviors for service dog work. Led by Vanesa Vizuete, CDBC—an experienced service dog trainer and certified behavior consultant—the workshop will provide an in-depth, practical exploration of task-specific alert training used in service dog applications. The two hour session will combine lecture, demonstration, and hands-on training exercises to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. Drawing on the diverse expertise within the team, we’ll integrate knowledge in odor detection, task training, and behavior shaping. Participants will have the opportunity to work through real-world training scenarios, troubleshoot challenges, and refine their training mechanics in a supportive, team-oriented environment. Participants are welcome to bring their own non-reactive dogs to actively participate in the training exercises.
