Description

We label many dogs "timid" or "anxious" due to their behavior in unforseen situations. Often, when we analyse the situation, we get to see that it is sudden movement or sounds that they react to. By using a combination of start buttons, shaping, and carefully changing the environment, we can turn something that was previously very "scary", into something that is great. This presentations includes a lot of startbutton work, but also shows how we can keep it really simple! We will explore how we can work with reactions to sounds, movement, wind, etc but the examples can easily be transferred to other issues. By using, being in control, to reinforce staying and being in the situation, and adding a layer of shaping distractions gradually into the situation, we can completely change the dogs experience.
