Description

We are just beginning to understand the role scent plays in our dogs' lives. It impacts the way they learn, the way memories are made, and may even interact with their visual perception of the world. This webinar provides an overview of the olfactory system and neurobiological basis of scent identification and recognition in dogs. Daniel will explore individual differences in scent identification due to genetics, breed, and learning history and the cognitive mechanisms that may influence a dog’s scent detection ability. Finally, Daniel will consider scentwork in different contexts and consider how it may impact a dog's mental health.
