Description

Many clients are victims of the ‘wrong dog’ syndrome and efforts to put a ‘square peg into a round hole’ often leave the dog owners as well as the dogs living a life that lacks joy and fulfillment. Studies show that adopting based on looks versus personality matching are often fraught with problems. Making THE RIGHT Canine Connection between adopter and dog will help to reduce returns and increase relationship quality and community safety. There are three elements to take into consideration when placing a dog in a home, those same three elements will impact the success and training of that dog. The DOG, the HUMAN/ADOPTER, and the ENVIRONMENT. During this session, participants will get an opportunity for observation, assessment and hands on with dogs in the shelter allow for the opportunity to discuss what type of adopter and environment will be best suited for each dog. This session will be filled with lots of questions and answers in an open forum.
