Description

This lectures gives those who plan to work with dogs in professional settings the tools they will need to understand, train, and care for the dogs they work with in a way that is educated, humane, and psychologically healthy for them. After taking a deep dive into how to read and respond to canine body language and stress signals, we will take an in-depth look at what active participation, consent, and positive welfare looks like in dogs, how to measure it, and what protocols you can have in place to ensure your dog remains happy, confident, and comfortable as they work alongside you. Taking it a step further, we’ll discuss burnout in dogs as well as strategies to use if you do begin to see a psychological or behavioral change or decline (and great ways to use these moments as opportunities to discuss boundaries, choice, consent, and advocacy).
