This class is at a dog grooming conference! The class will be on Sunday of the conference. Behavior problems during grooming is a huge problem. In fact, it's a much larger problem than many trainers think. Trainers will learn how to help groomers understand how to use modern behavior principles in the grooming setting. Trainers will also learn more about the grooming process, special considerations for the grooming environment, and why many groomers are frustrated by training advice. If you're interested in cooperative care, preparing dogs for grooming visits, and/or helping dogs who have difficulty in the grooming setting this class is for you. "Groom S.M.A.R.T.- Adding Modern Behavior Principles To Your Daily Grooming" In this 4 hour course we'll discuss goal setting, the 3C's(Calm, Comfortable, and Cooperative), basic training principles, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, safe and comfortable handling and management, and setting the mood. The class is set up as hour long lectures with hour long breaks in between for lunch, shopping at the trade show, watching grooming competitions, networking, and enjoying a conference. There are many other classes to take over the course of the 4 day conference including the five hour "PetTech CPR & First Aid For Your Pets". A course that every dog professional should take.
