Description

In this workshop, we’ll learn movement skills designed to improve the welfare of animals by improving our teaching and observation skills as well as our learner’s behavior repertoire. Learning these movement behaviors builds confidence for our learners once they gain the ability to control their entire bodies in precise ways. These behaviors are often a foundation for husbandry and fitness and a variety of activities and sports. I’ll use video to illustrate how to teach specific exercises along with specific steps you can follow. This workshop will be interactive, dynamic, educational, and fun. A few of the learning-objectives we’ll be exploring together: Improving our shaping skills Improving our observation skills Setting up movement-training environments for success Understanding the importance of alignment (in ourselves and our learners) Understanding the benefits of movement exercises Why proprioception matters and how to increase it through movement Improving the lives of fearful, reactive, and aging dogs through movement.
