Description

This pre-recorded class supports skill development for recognizing and interpreting nonverbal nervous system cues in both humans and dogs. Behavior is the result of interactions between individuals and the environment. To interpret another being’s communication and to support behavior change from a trauma-informed lens, it is necessary to zoom in on the body and understand behavior from the level of the nervous system. When you can recognize the subtle signs of stress, anxiety, or overwhelm in both the human and the dog, you will be more proactive and effective in modifying the environment or the task to support improved outcomes. Learning skills for identifying nervous system states in humans and dogs contributes to: • awareness of your own nervous system state and needs • understanding of the interaction between the environment and the individuals • effectively making environmental or task adjustments • confidence in setting and holding boundaries (for yourself, the dog, and the human) • knowing exactly what your client (human or dog) needs and implementing it • clearly describing and illuminating dog behavior for your human clients This course comes with 2 bonus worksheets to support you in mapping your own and your dog's nervous system states!
