Description

Jim Crosby Webinars: Forensics, Severe Dog Aggression & Body Language The Body Language of Aggression A description of canine body language and signaling with particular emphasis on the body language signals that are commonly associated with the aggression behavior cluster. This will include both signals sent by dogs and how dogs interpret and understand signals sent by humans, even when the human is unaware of their signaling. Direct application of this knowledge can assist practitioners in both understanding the sub-critical signals of dog in order to stay safe, but how that knowledge can also assist them in deescalating reactive behavior to build positive relationships with dogs, even in stressful circumstances. Saturday September 17, 2022 - 11am to 12:30pm EST (USA and Canada) Working with Severe Aggression Cases Severe canine aggression cases are both challenging and dangerous. Even attempting to work with these dogs is a high-liability endeavor. Occasionally, with the right combination of owner, resources, skills and a good bit of luck we take that step into the blue to attempt to find a resolution for owners of these dogs. To recognize these cases we need to be able to quantify and recognize behavior. We must evaluate causes, contributing factors, and give an informed prognosis. In this class we will look at the difference between truly severe and "really bad", examine evaluation strategies, and discuss management and behavior modification to reduce risk and maybe, just maybe, help committed owners keep themselves and their dogs as safe as we can. Saturday October 8, 2022 - 11am to 12:30pm EST (USA and Canada) An Introduction to Veterinary Forensics We will introduce the audience to the field of Veterinary Forensics - principles, application, and its place in their practices. Topics will include recognition of Non-Accidental Injury (NAI), interaction with Law Enforcement, collection and documentation of evidence, current reporting guidelines and liability concerns. Saturday November 5, 2022 - 1:30pm to 3:00pm EST (USA and Canada) These webinars are suitable for veterinary professionals, animal trainers, animal behaviorists, shelter and rescue staff and volunteers, and anyone with an interest in evidence-based behavior intervention.
