Description

While the prevalence of separation anxiety has always been high, we are starting to see increases of epidemic proportions as the world starts to reopen post-pandemic. This behavior has often been regarded as too challenging to address, and many dog professionals shy away from working with it. The good news is that separation anxiety is a fixable issue when the treatment is done in a systematic and gradual fashion. In this 4-hour presentation, dog professionals will learn about the nuances of working with separation anxiety including emphasis on the fact that every dog is unique, and training must be adjusted to the individual learner. While there is no one-size-fits-all training plan for separation anxiety, there are many standard operating procedures that we will review. We will discuss in depth how to create a systematic training protocol, how many commonly thought of treatment options are not actually helpful, why the time is now to start working with separation anxiety dogs, and the important role of working remotely to solve this issue. Dog professionals will leave with an in-depth direction on how to proceed with their separation anxiety clients.
