Description

Psychiatric Service Dogs – Healing Companions is a 90 minute webinar, live online on June 9, 2016 and then recorded for OnDemand purchase and viewing. In this lecture, Jane Miller, owner of Healing Companions, will detail how best to navigate the complicated world of psychiatric service dogs. One in four Americans suffers from mental illness – yet less than a third of those people will receive treatment, often due to financial barriers and the stigma around mental health. The expansive need and demand for psychiatric service dogs exceeds the organizations, individuals adequately trained and knowledgeable in this specialized field. In this webinar, you will learn: What is a psychiatric service dog? A psychiatric service dog in training? A glossary of terms will be provided as a handout. Also included will be a discussion about ADA and the conditions that apply for someone being qualified for a PSD. A question and answer session will follow this webinar that will be moderated by Monique Udell, PhD.
