Description

"As trainers and behavior consultants, we all wish that we could be 100% successful at helping our clients and their dogs live harmoniously together for the long haul, in every single case. But the truth is, it isn't always possible to ""fix"" dogs with serious behavior problems and sometimes, there may be situations that simply aren't a good long-term fit for either partner in the relationship. Part of our job it to help our clients set realistic expectations for what we can achieve, given the dog they have and their own unique living situation. So how do we make these assessments in the real world? In this presentation, we will discuss specific factors in behavior cases that affect the likelihood of a good outcome, and how this assessment may affect our plan going forward. As part of this conversation, we will also discuss when it may be reasonable to consider rehoming and/or euthanasia for behavior cases, and how to compassionately handle these sensitive topics with clients."
