erry has gone virtual while we navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic. KARE is proud to partner with Terry for these upcoming Virtual Chicken Camp! The virtual chicken camp is one hour every week for eight weeks with lots of guided homework between classes. No experience is necessary. Terry will help working participants select and condition a hen from their own flock to be their training partner. Check out the details below! Who: Ages 12 & up* Cost: Working Participant (only 6 spots): $195 Auditor Participant**: $130 Dates: Wednesdays, November 11 – December 30, 2020, 8-9 am Pacific time. Prerequisites: An interest in clicker training animals of all sorts Continual access to a suitable chicken (hen) Willingness to acquire a few props Basic Zoom program (free) In this virtual course, you’ll get the information from Terry’s traditional Chicken Camps which is designed to practice animal training. The methods will involve marker-based positive reinforcement techniques. The goal of the course is to help you be a better trainer of any species, including humans. The course will provide practical application for the principles of classical and operant conditioning. Observation and timing skills are practiced. A foundation of target training and discrimination is followed by teaching the chicken to negotiate a simple, chained obstacle course. Working participants will have the opportunity to work with Terry one-on-one during class sessions. CEU credits are available. **Auditor Participants: We welcome people to participate without a chicken. Auditors will be involved in some of the skills taught, and in Q&A and critique sessions.
