Description

As dogs engage in scent work their brain function and structure are altering in response, as various competing intended and unintended stimuli are encountered. These changes can be both immediate and delayed, both temporary and permanent, and are influenced by various environmental and internal factors. The same is true of all canine disciplines but scent work is special. In this talk the dynamic interplay between scent work, intentional processing and emotional well being will be explored. Understanding this interplay helps us understand how to set the brain up for success, and what might be running the show when things don’t go according to plan.
