Description

Impulse control is involved in all aspects of a dog's life and can significantly affect the quality of their own as well as their humans' lives. All of the major behaviour problems in dogs boil down to general and specific impulse control issues. Whether the dog is a pet or competition, looking at what behaviours are typically observed (that often lead to frustration and aggression) and identifying the specific areas of impulse control can help to focus a handler to improve the overall issue. Teaching several foundation skills will ensure success. Research suggests handlers may be inadvertently triggering a lack of impulse control and provides answers to what they can do instead. Try out one of a few games that help teach a dog to control himself.
