Description

This workshop will cover: - What is on-leash reactivity? - Why does leash reactivity occur? - Introduction to marker training and learning theory - The difference between reactive, aggressive, and frustration behaviour - Building engagement - Teaching dogs to respond to feather-light leash pressure cues - Leash handling techniques for loose leash walking and leash reactivity - The benefits of head collars for on-leash reactivity - Conditioning head collars effectively - Reading dog body language - Understanding and determining a dog's threshold - Why threshold is important and how to use it in behavior modification - Supporting your dog through 'over-threshold' encounters - Relaxation exercises for reactivity - Enrichment and appropriate physical and mental outlets - Changing a dog's emotional response to their triggers (and why this is important) - Applicable operant skills (and why they help) - Normal dog-dog social behavior and how it may change with age - Risk assessment for off-leash socialization
