Description
K9 Nose Work® is designed to develop a dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their curiosity, desire to hunt, and their love of toys, food, and exercise. It’s a great way for any dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy. This introductory workshop is the first step in learning the foundational elements of the activity and sport of K9 Nose Work® as developed by the founders of the sport. This seminar is for dog sport enthusiasts, pet owners and potential K9 Nose Work® instructors (note: this workshop is a requirement for participation in the NACSW™ Instructor Certification and Training Program). The K9 Nose Work® team will take you through the process of the first steps in getting a dog started in K9 Nose Work, concentrating on the basic concepts and foundation skills for dogs and handlers. The instructors will share their proven training techniques and class structure to demonstrate the most effective ways to encourage and develop a dog’s scenting abilities. The presentation will consist of lecture, video clips from actual K9 Nose Work® classes as well as hands on demos with dogs highlighting the process giving participants a first-hand look at the full range of applications for companion dogs, including exercise, relationship-building, mental stimulation, confidence building, and as an added tool for behavior rehabilitation. K9 Nose Work isn’t just a sport, but a way to work with dogs that encourages the dog to express their natural gifts in a mutually beneficial way helping to enhance the human/canine relationship.
