AAII is a 501c3 that caters to healthcare/human service providers and dog training organizations to improve animal assisted activity, animal assisted therapy, and animal assisted education outcomes. Animal support is one of our member categories. We work to educate dog trainers how to train dogs for these types of jobs, using humane, positive reinforcement based methods. Membership Field – Animal Support (AS) Full membership in the category Animal Support (AS) open to organizations that train dogs or animals to work in facilities or to work alongside healthcare, social service or education providers with formal education in a relevant discipline. Full membership – criteria • Organizations in this category train animals to work alongside healthcare, social service, religious affiliations, or educational professionals; • Eligibility includes completion of basic animal training education for each support person regarding the population they will be working with or training for; • Must have animal training experience using positive reinforcement techniques; • Organizations must have a named person who meets the criteria and is effectively the holder of the membership. More than 50% of our membership are dog training organizations with numerous dog trainers. The president of AAII is also a CPDT-KA
