Description

Most of what we do in our businesses, or in our lives for that matter, can be thought of as a series of processes. The process of scheduling an appointment; the process of evaluating or screening a pet; the process of taking a behavior history; or the process of implementing a particular behavior modification technique to give just a few examples. In turn, we create processes for our clients to follow. We may tell them about the process of housetraining, of introducing pets to one another, or the process of acclimating a dog to a head collar. We may be using processes that are less than optimal because we’ve never stopped to think about how they could be streamlined or improved. And whenever we implement a new process – whether it’s a different behavior modification protocol we’re trying out, a new class curriculum, or the process of putting a video up on our websites – we risk missing a step in a process we aren’t yet familiar with. In reality, research from human medicine shows that even when professionals (doctors and nurses) are VERY familiar with a process, steps are missed far more often than we think. The solution? Checklists. In this month’s Pro BEN Member webinar we’ll share with you the intriguing research about checklists and how they are being used by successful pros in all kinds of fields, from medicine to marketing. But no one has yet applied them to the field of dog behavior and training – until now. Checklists can reduce errors and improve outcomes, no matter what the process. We’ll provide examples of checklists, and brainstorm others that you may not even have thought of! We’ll also give you ideas for checklists to give to clients as part of their ‘homework,’ that can help improve compliance and outcomes. At the end of this webinar you’ll have a new respect for the power of the simple checklist and how it can make a difference in what you do. So don’t miss this ground-breaking webinar and discover how you can use checklists to increase your effectiveness and efficiency and even improve client compliance.
