Judith Stoodley, RFE-CI, New England's first certified Rally Free instructor and Rally Free Judge-in-Training, is pleased to team up with Diana Logan, CPDT-KA, in offering the first Rally Free Workshop in Maine! All levels welcome! What is Rally Freestyle? “Rally-FrEe is a unique sport combining trick behaviors of Canine Musical Freestyle with the structure and format of Rally-Obedience. It emphasizes the precise execution of fundamental freestyle and obedience skills while encouraging creative and novel behaviors on a Rally-Obedience style course. Rally-FrEe encourages the use of positive-reinforcement training methods that strengthen teamwork and foster a reciprocal learning process between dog and handler.” This Intro to Rally Freestyle Elements workshop will familiarize teams with behaviors necessary to compete at the Novice level such as bows, spins, circling, weaving and more. You will learn how to get precision behaviors right away, in three of the four standard positions (left heel, right heel, and center), and get tips on how to continue to achieve success at home while having a great time with your dog! There will also be opportunities to try the skills on RallyFree-style mini courses as the skills are introduced to give you a feeling for what the sport actually looks like in competition. More advanced teams that already have some freestyle skills will also benefit from this workshop and may discover they are ready - or almost ready - to compete.
