Description

Have you ever seen a wolf, a bison, or a fox up close? Did it get personal? During this seminar (situation and safety permitting), you will have the chance to meet wolves, red and grey foxes, as well as bison. The primary focus of this seminar, however, is on the world of the wolf, especially how wolves grow from pups to adults. What is a canid ambassador? What does it take to raise and keep a big brained canid happy in captivity? Come to Wolf Park and find out! Walk with us as we enter the world of our wild canids (wolves, foxes, & coyotes) and our prey species bison. This seminar will give you new insights into what working with captive wild animals is like. Our animals have a variety of personalities and life experiences. What is it like to work with animals that are shy and reserved as well as those that are in your face? Some of our techniques may apply to your own dogs. What are the true differences and similarities between dogs and wolves? Join us and deepen your understanding of canid behavior. Sampling of Topics: How a captive wolf can have a fulfilling life Critical times and experiences in the life of a young wolf. Working with wolves: An overview of past to present techniques Social behavior: Wolf to wolf and wolf to human How do wolves make a living? Seminars include three full days of activities.
