Description

"Socialization is not just about exposure to novel stimuli, it is about providing positive experiences. Over the years the importance of early experience has been recognized by professionals and that has been a huge first step. It is maybe even more important to recognize that socialization needs to be a pleasant experience for the dog and be able to coach others on how to achieve this. Negative experiences can have a profound detrimental impact on the psychological well-being of the dog. This session will provide tips on how to make exposure to novel environments, people, and stimuli pleasant and enjoyable for the dog and how to avoid some common pitfalls."
