The 5 cases will be chosen from submissions made 6 weeks before the event. An email will be sent to all those booked on the clinic two months before the event, inviting submissions and giving details of the application procedure. Day 2 – Veterinary Behaviour Seminar Medical aspects of behavioural problems: When it is a ‘seizure’ vs. something else? Do we need to worry about pain and itch? Effects of illness on behaviours and behavioural medication. The Effect of the thyroid gland on behaviour in dogs and cats: Truths and fallacies. Can exercise and diet change brains and behaviours? ‘Autistic’, ‘schizophrenic’ and ‘ADHD’ dogs: Can we recognize these pathologies in dogs? Day 3 – Veterinary Behaviour Seminar Abnormal Canine Behaviours and Behavioural Pathologies involving Aggression: Updates on the concepts of ‘resource guarding’, ‘dominance’, ‘jealousy’ and other attributions How do you choose from the array of treatment paradigms? What’s ‘punishment’ for a dog? Why the dog’s viewpoint must be central.
