Description

Nose Work Teamwork How does the human half of the team influence the dogs searching? Do you notice the changes of behaviors your dog shows before they get to source. Understanding how to read the changes of behavior and adapting quickly to what our dog is telling us can reduce the confusion we create for our dogs. This brings wonderful teamwork to the dog’s searches creating successful outcomes. Video analysis is the best training tool we have. We will look at odor and how it moves in search areas. Search areas worked by participating teams will have various challenges including a combination of challenges for higher levels - Teams will work on trapping, pooling, elevation, blank search areas, time pressure, and inaccessible hides. We can change the outcome of the search for the better or worse with our body movements, speed, orientation, directions etc. This may be a new approach to many handlers, but it will give the dogs freedom to do what they do best, hunt for odor!
