Description

This course introduces the student to training parrots. It begins with a discussion of species-typical behaviors of parrots important to training, and suitable and unsuitable equipment choices before covering the training of a parrot to exhibit the following behaviors on cue: targeting, step up, holding up a wing, and leave it. I briefly addresses the avoidance of and elimination of problematic vocalizations. The steps and procedures described for training the above behaviors may then be applied to training other behaviors.
