Description

ADVANCED ANIMAL TRAINING Event Description: Online course delivered over 10 weeks and with continued access for a year. Event Objectives: This is an almost encyclopedic course that covers more intricate theoretical aspects of animal training. Each module covers a concept in depth, and contains some practical challenge (that is voluntary) as well as a short interview with a leading animal trainer discussing one particular aspect of the current module (interviewees include Bob Bailey, Susan Friedman and Ken Ramirez, to name a few). Although this course promotes humane training methods and positive reinforcement, a module on negative reinforcement is also included, since it’s one of the most misunderstood – and misused – concepts frequently used by animal trainers (often unknowingly). Other module topics include a Recap, Processes – animals and learning, Classical conditioning, Predictability and control, Motivation and relationships, Shaping up Shaping, Schedules of Reinforcement, Behaviour Analysis, and Procedures – trainers and teaching. Participants Hours: approximately 17 (theoretical)
