Description

This six lesson online class is for the beginner to novice dog trainer who may be unfamiliar with learning theory and wants to learn how to teach a dog the basic skills and behaviors all dogs should know using positive methods. In this course, you will learn how to precisely signal a dog’s correct response with a small hand-held “clicker” and reward the behavior so that it will more likely happen again. Exercises such as sit, stand, down, and stay are introduced, as are loose-leash walking, polite greetings, “leave-it”, attention and the really reliable recall. The trainer will gain a better understanding of what dogs need and can be expected to achieve dogs in the household. Problem behaviors are also covered such as jumping, digging, barking, housebreaking, etc. This course will require the student to pass written quizzes and tests. It will also require the student to submit for grading, video homework assignments that show the knowledge gained from this course can be applied successfully as a skill by the student.
