Knowing when and how to raise criteria is one of the most important skills a professional dog trainer can have. Additionally, it’s important to know how to pass this skill on to their clients. There are four stages of learning: Acquisition, fluency, generalization, and maintenance. As professional dog trainers, we’re lucky to get past the acquisition stage with our clients; therefore, it’s important to give them the tools to move beyond acquisition into fluency and generalization.
