Description
SATURDAY – JUNE 9TH - Don’t play by the rules – The test of a trial has certain rules that allow for a fair assessment of each team, where each search is created to hold that consistency as much as possible for the day for all teams. However, our training days are not designed that way – we should be pushing each team to NOT play by the rules of trial because there are no rules in training. We have goals to meet and if you are playing by the trial rules in training then you are handicapping your goals. Things as simple as the routine reward process, # of hides, covering the area, checking all the containers can create skewed patterns and fixed expectations for the dog based on “in trial” type training. There lies the problem – what happens when you encounter a trial search that is outside of your training patterns? LOCATION: WYMAN LIVING HISTORY MUSEUM – 1 MILE EAST OF CRAIG ON HWY 40 – LOOK FOR THE SIGN.
