Description

This presentation will debunk myths that have been prevalent for a long time and which continue to cause problems in handlers' relationships with dogs. The topics will range from dominance theory to the fact that a wagging tail does not always mean a happy dog. Pet care providers will leave the webinar feeling more comfortable as to what is scientifically sound and what is not true, but has become accepted as such because of misleading representation in the media Webinar Objectives Learn and understand why dominance theory has been debunked and how applying the pack leader mentality to working with animals can cause various behavior issues. Learn that dogs, in the majority of cases, do not bite out of nowhere. Learn why dogs petting dogs or giving them treats when fearful is not rewarding the fear. Learn why yelling at a dog in many cases (shelter, kennels, etc.) does not stop barking or undesirable behavior but actually makes it worse.
