Description

This seminar is open to all K9 Nose Work® enthusiasts that have a basic understanding of K9 Nose Work® training techniques. Saturday, April 28, 2018– Lecture/Video/Discussion Format Every level of trial relies on the same foundational skills. Balancing the foundation with layered challenges should be an integral part of your training program. This workshop will focus on a range of adaptable exercises that allow dog and handler to stretch, and then cement concepts which are applicable at any level of competition. Discussion around the training exercise and your program will illustrate how to adjust and adapt for your individual team. How can you advance your dog/handler team through the NW levels and achieve your personal best? What kind of exercises can you be working on to build more skill and overcome any challenges? Sunday, April 29, 2018 – Clinic with Working Teams Sunday will include 3 separate 2-hour sessions each with 6 dogs working. The goal of this hands-on workshop is to provide an opportunity to practice and observe some of the adaptable exercises discussed in day one. In order to illustrate more exercise examples, the day will be divided into 3 separate working groups each with six dogs. Each dog/handler team in the working group will be involved in a 2-hour group session and will audit/observe the other sessions. The workshop is also open to auditors without dogs. Through group exercises and hands-on activities this workshop will allow handlers to get personalized coaching with regard to their dog, style and experience. Participating teams can be at an intermediate through elite level (see below). A title is not required, but dogs should have strong odor obedience.
