Description

Most dogs live in our homes as four-legged family members, but sometimes their behavior can be a jarring reminder that they are not humans, but canids with their own unique behavioral and sensory systems. In this colorful presentation, Julie Hecht, MSc presents scientific research into some of dogs' seemingly taboo behaviors, such as humping and crotch-sniffing. This presentation highlights the importance of assessing behavior from the dog's perspective, as opposed to through the lens of human social norms and standards. Discussion will follow, moderated by Dr. Monique Udell.
