Description

At its most basic level, the drive to eat is an essential evolutionarily conserved survival mechanisum. This session will present the evidence that nutritional strategies to provide effective environmental enrichment help reduce the risk of development of later health problems, including obesity. Thinking of diets and feeding as opportunities to provide environmental enrichment, to the "captive" pets in our care can help our pets, clients, and the human-pet bond. This session is offered as continuing education programming during the Midwest Veterinary Conference.
