This hands-on course will help you take your BAT skills to the next level, so you can help more dogs. Each participant will practice BAT skills with a 'neutral' helper dog and also work with a dog with reactivity issues (and his/her caretaker). This seminar will give you plenty of practice doing and observing BAT in action. You will participate in problem-solving sessions for a total of 6 dogs and your main focus and training practice will be on one of the dogs. We will analyze videos shot of the participants so that you'll be able to hone your observation skills and improve your technique. We will also play pre-recorded videos of BAT set-ups to wrap your brain around and troubleshoot in small groups. Full participants will observe (and be observed doing) training sessions -- note that this means you will be training in front of the other trainers in attendance. In this interactive course, you will see understand more of the technical details of working with BAT yourself, including leash skills. You will also improve your coaching skills for a professional trainer, including taking a good history, deciding which methods to use with the dog (and whether that includes BAT), reading body language, teaching some other skills, answering questions about BAT, etc.
