Systematic Desensitization and Counter Conditioning are among the most powerful and most commonly used behavior modification techniques for dealing with pet behavior problems. But do you know: • The scientific basis for these techniques? • The difference between operant and classical counter conditioning and when to use each? • The best situations for using desensitization and counter conditioning separately or together? • Five implementation mistakes to avoid that can cause unwanted changes in behavior? The class will answer these questions and many more. We’ll discuss what to consider to make the techniques work most effectively, and we’ll contrast them with other behavior modification techniques. Finally, we’ll present many examples and some selected case histories.
