As a faculty member at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, she combines her 30 years as a college professor in the field of communication and her canine training and behavioral experience. As a Canine Coach & Trainer she provides small group classes, private one-on-one instruction, behavioral consultations and assessments. Her dynamic and easy training methods help you develop a harmonious bond with your canine companion. Puppy training begins as early as 8 weeks beginning with specialized Off-Leash Puppy Primary, Pre-Adolescent Puppy Training and AKC S.T.A.R Puppy classes. For adolescent & adult dogs, she offers classes in Canine Companion Basic through Advanced, AKC Canine Good Citizen, TPU Therapy Dog, Canine Nose Work and Agility. Deb is the only “Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed” in northern New York. She is also an approved evaluator for Therapy Pets Unlimited (TPU) - a national AKC approved therapy dog organization; as well as an Evaluator for AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC), AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, and Duke University’s Dognition Program. She serves on the national canine training and behavior education committee for the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT), is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC) and has served three terms as President of the Clinton County Canine Club. Deb employs non-aversive scientifically proven training methodology for both the human and canine ends of the leash.
