Description

Our Advanced Seminar Program continues for its second year! Participants will have the unique opportunity to train our wolves, foxes and bison inside their enclosures. Training will be under the supervision of Wolf Park staff and Ken McCort. Participants will work as a team to create a training program, implement their plan and problem solve with Ken and Wolf park staff through workshops and advanced lectures. Seminars run three days Friday – Sunday and include hands on time with the animals, lectures, workshops and discussion. This year, we are offering an optional additional day on Thursday. This day will focus on Wolf Park’s history and work. Early arrivals will see the safety presentation ahead of time, meet the park animals, take a tour led by the park staff, observe the animals, and receive talks about the history of the park. Breakfast and lunch are included all four days. For Experienced Professional Trainers ONLY Price $1200.00 for three days or $1500.00 for optional fourth day. This exclusive seminar is limited to 10-12 participants. Anyone interested in participating must complete an application questionnaire illustrating your training experience with domestics and/or exotics. This application will be reviewed by Ken McCort and the Wolf Park Animal Care Staff for participation approval. Wolf Park will contact applicants to notify them of their status. Familiarity with: lure and reward training target training the use of a marker signal (like a clicker or whistle) training with the use of successive approximations reward scheduling and variable reward systems training without the use of force, intimidation and/or aversive control Ability to work outside in close proximity to all participating animals Talent to learn and have fun simultaneously Educational Opportunities: Learn to develop training strategies for solving behavior problems then implement behavior modification with selected park animals. Work in cooperation with other trainers to develop a team approach to implementing the strategies. Lecture and group discussions with other experienced trainers
