Description

Resource guarding is a natural, normal behavior important for biological survival. While not all dogs do it, many do – and so do most humans! We make it worse by being offended and aggressing back when our dog suggests that he’d like to keep his food or other high value item. Of course, that doesn’t mean it okay for your dog to bite you (or your children or visitors) if you happen to wander into his guarding zone. This 2-day workshop will help you better understand your dog’s guarding behavior, and give you tools to manage and modify the undesirable behavior that accompanies resource guarding. Teach your dog to eagerly anticipate your approach when he’s eating, and to happily trade when you need to take something that he might prefer to keep. We will examine and work with dog-dog guarding as well as dog-human guarding. This is two day workshop that goes from July 23rd to 24th, 2016
