Description

Scott and Fuller’s Genetics and Social Behavior of the Dog is a classic of canine behavior. The research findings and conclusions from this book have been cited for almost 50 years. But do those citing the book get it right? Or, have there been misinterpretations and misunderstandings of Scott and Fuller’s work? In this webinar we’ll examine some of the things that people said Scott and Fuller said, such as young puppies only need 20 minutes a day exposure to people to become socialized to them, and what Scott and Fuller actually said. We’ll also look at some results of their research that haven’t gotten a lot of press, but that have relevance for dog owners, trainers and behavior consultants, even today. For example, we’ll examine their research on * Emotional reactivity * Tendencies to fight the leash * Playful aggressiveness * Restrained biting And how those findings might be applied.
