Description

This webinar contained a lot of useful information for me professionally and as the owner of a dog diagnosed with OCD. I was interested to learn the possible causes (genetic, stress, etc) as well as the different types of behavior that are considered obsessive-compulsive. My dog is a spinner and a very strange guy--sweet, but strange. These behaviors can also take the forms of predatory behaviors and eating/suckling and grooming, in addition to the locomotion behaviors. Dr. Dodman recommended "rule-outs" first: medical problems, attention-seeking behaviors, and displacement behaviors. He had lots of suggestions for behavioral treatments (structure, exercise, environmental enrichment) as well as pharmaceutical treatments.
