Description

Juvenile Delinquent Dogs focuses on helping owners and professionals assisting owners to most efficiently navigate adolescence - or dogs of any age with adolescent tendencies. First, understanding what to expect and what is realistic during this age. With unrealistic expectations, we are setting dogs up to fail. Understanding what is "normal" will help owners or clients set realistic short-term expectations. Second, are the dog's needs being met? Needs include such things as: appropriate food, fresh water, a safe place, freedom from excessive stress/anxiety, proper exercise and stimulation. Next, is a good management plan in place? Proper use of baby gates, crates, ex-pens, leashes, collars, harnesses, head halters and other tools will be discussed. Then, establish clear goals and expectations and learn how to communicate those clearly with the dog. Some people have trouble setting clear goals. Others have clear goals but do not know how to communicate those to the dog. The goal is to help owners learn how to set their dogs up for success at an age when many people relinquish their dogs. We can assist most owners through this stage if we help them follow the plan outlined in this presentation.
