Description

Positive reinforcers strengthen behavior when they are certain, swift and strong. But how do we reinforce a behavior a learner has not yet exhibited? Do we really need to growing old waiting to capture the behavior that may never occur? Join Dr. Susan G. Friedman, an applied behavior analyst, in a discussion of shaping new behavior. With shaping, new behaviors can be taught and other dimensions changes such as duration and intensity, without coercion of any kind. Through photographs and shaping plans of actual case examples, Dr. Friedman, will discuss the following learning objectives: -how shaping works -different approaches to shaping -skills need to shape new behavior -the relationship between shaping and empowerment -adding a cue -prompting and fading -luring in shaping -how to write a shaping plan -the many practical applications of shaping
