Description

This presentation will consider the benefits of teaching your dog using the principles of errorless learning. By setting up the classroom environment to limit our dogs' choices, we can explain more easily what we are asking of them rather than letting them guess. This reduces learner frustration, increases the success rate and leaves your dog begging for more! The first part of the presentation considers the difference between errorless learning and trial and error learning. It then looks at how to apply the principles to clicker training when free shaping and teaching more complex behaviours. Finally, some applications for behaviour modification are considered and a puppy errorless learning case study is discussed. Webinar Objectives To understand the difference between errorless learning and constructivism (trial and error learning) To appreciate the benefits of errorless learning, the fallout of trial and error learning and the negative impact of frustration on behaviour To understand how to apply the principles of errorless learning to communicate with your dog more effectively To be able to plan and set up the learning environment for minimal errors when clicker training and free shaping To consider the applications of errorless learning for behaviour modification
