Canine Behaviour Enrichment programs have proven to increase adopt-ability, reduce return rates and improve quality of life for dogs living in a kennel environment. Whether you work in an animal shelter, rescue or boarding kennel, enrichment programs are essential. They not only reduce signs of stress, anxiety and boredom but encourage human bonding and promote calm, predictable behaviour from the dog, which in turn creates a positive and safe work environment for staff. This two-day workshop is broken down into 4 components, guiding participants through the process of developing and implementing a cost effective Canine Behaviour Enrichment program in a kennel environment. The curriculum includes; manuals, program tracking forms and homework sheets, complete with training protocols arranged in a 3-Phase Canine Behaviour Enrichment program. The Canine Behaviour Enrichment program is designed to; build confidence, strengthen positive human social skills and improve basic obedience training, with the ultimate goal of, increasing the dog’s adoptability. Participants gain a minimum of 9 hours of practical experience, under the guidance of a Behaviour Consultant, putting the theory into practice. During this time, they sharpen their skills in implementing each component of the 3 Phase Canine Behaviour Enrichment program, in a shelter environment, with dogs currently in the system.
