Description

Coaching the Canine Athlete© provides information on how the canine body works, and what you can do to improve performance and keep your dog healthy and injury-free The seminar is highly interactive and provides ample opportunity for attendees and their dogs to participate in structure and gait analysis, lameness evaluation, conditioning exercises, and possibly jump training, alternating lecture time with working activities. There is abundant opportunity to ask questions. This two-day seminar is full of new information about the canine athlete and is updated continuously as new information becomes available. Each day consists of two to three modules, with each module consisting of a lecture and discussion period followed by demonstrations and activities with participants’ dogs. Dr. Zink strikes a balance between how much one-on-one time each ‘working’ participant gets with her and their dog, and maintaining the interest of the entire group. So, for example, when covering the topic of locomotion, Dr Zink selects approximately 1/3 of the working spot dogs to demonstrate interesting aspects of canine gait, but does not evaluate the gait of every dog, since that would be quite repetitive for the audience as a whole. To maintain this balance, in her seminars, participating dogs do not get as much one-on-one attention as might be provided during an agility training workshop (thus working/audit spot prices reflect this). On the other hand, all attendees get more personal attention and the seminar maintains everyone’s interest on an ongoing basis. We encourage everyone to register for a working spot so there is a diversity in dogs to learn from and more people can get some feedback on their dogs. We need a minimum of 20 dogs and depending on enrollee variety can take additional. Do not miss out on this fantastic opportunity!
