Description

Did you know that using a small box clicker and some reinforcing goodies, you can teach your dog to do almost anything --- and do so with a method that will have you both smiling throughout the process? Basic manners are a great place to start, but you can also teach virtually any trick, improve your agility skills at any level, polish your obedience moves, help your therapy dog with his or her bedside manner, and generally strengthen your relationship with your dog. Interested in learning more? This is the seminar for you. During this one-day introductory seminar, attendees will learn how to use a clicker and get plenty of opportunities to practice their skills. Topics will include introducing the clicker, getting behaviors to reinforce, perfecting your click/treat technique, adding cues, changing cues, and problem-solving. We will be doing a variety of activities, so dogs attending the seminar should be able to stay in a crate quietly for up to an hour, should be able to eat treats in new settings (i.e. not super shy), and should be easily managed around other dogs and people. We will not have multiple dogs off-leash in the training space at any time, but passing other on-leash dogs in hallways and/or stairwells is likely. Limit one dog per handler.
