If you would like to become more involved in your profession, consider joining our motivated and talented team of committee members.

We are always looking for creative thinkers who are comfortable working in teams or independently as needed. Strong communications skills (written and verbal) are a plus, and a working knowledge of computers (email, Word, Excel) and the Internet is a must.

Volunteer opportunities exist in the following committees:

Roles and Responsibilities

CPDT-KA®/CPDT-KSA® Examination Committee

Role: Work with our subject matter experts to develop new CPDT-KA/CPDT-KSA examinations, and with our psychometrician to ensure each examination is psychometrically sound. You also review and score videos from CPDT-KSA candidates.

Skills/requirements: Broad experience in training and human education is helpful. An extra plus would be experience creating and administering examinations. For this role, you need to be available for a monthly conference call.

Benefits: Gain in-depth experience in the process of test development and administration.

 Time: Approx. 3hrs/month. An additional 5hrs/week for 6 weeks around April and October.

CBCC-KA® Examination Committee

Role: Work with our subject matter experts to develop the CBCC-KA examination and with our psychometrician to ensure the examination is psychometrically sound.

Skills/requirements: Broad experience in training and human education is helpful. An extra plus would be experience creating and administering examinations. For this role, you need to be available for a monthly conference call.

Benefits: Gain in-depth experience in the process of test development and administration.

Time: Approx. 3hrs/month. An additional 5hrs/week for 6 weeks around April and October.

Certification Compliance Committee

Role: As a members of this committee, you are responsible for investigating complaints lodged against certified professionals and recommending which actions to take, if any.

Skills/requirements: Experience with research and writing are useful, and a calm, diplomatic interaction style is key. For this role, you need to be available for conference calls on an as-needed basis. 

Benefits: Help uphold the high professional standards and ethical commitment of the CCPDT certifications, and develop communication competencies for handling difficult situations.

Time: Approx. 2hrs/week

Professional Outreach Committee

Role: As a member of this committee, you work on a number of strategic initiatives, including a certificant benefits package and outreach to conferences, seminars, and trade shows about a potential CCPDT presence. You also identify and recommend marketing and PR opportunities, maintain and expand our mailing list, and help develop our social media presence.

Skills/requirements: Experience with sponsorships, networking, social media, and PR are all big plusses. For this role, you need to be available for conference calls on an as-needed basis.

Benefits: Engage with a community of highly qualified dog trainers, boost your visibility through one-on-one networking with media and partners, and learn more about the CCPDT as you prepare to answer questions.

Time: Approx. 2hrs/week
